The Cinque Terre are situated
in the Nord of Italy, in Liguria, in the Riviera di Levante.
The Cinque Terre are five little sea villages clunged to rocks overlooking the
sea: in 1997 the Cinque Terre were declared Unesco World Heritage because of
their breathtaking beauty and peculiarity.
Rugged coast, thousands of miles of dry stone walls, the vines cultivations
overlooking the sea, the famous wine vino passito Sciacchetrà, miles and miles
of trails, footpaths, paths for all those who like the hinking, trekking Cinque
Terre, tiny bays between the rocks, narrow alleys where you can enjoy
breathtaking views, the enlighted crib in Manarola: these are the Cinque Terre,
Cinque Terre National Park and Cinque Terre Protected Sea Riserve from 1999.
Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore: these are the names of
those five tiny villages, worldwide known as the Cinque Terre.
Reaching the
Cinque Terre was anything but easy for centuries. Today they are linked one to
the other by the Strada Provinciale delle Cinque Terre, by the railway line
Genoa-Rome and, during the summer, it’s possibile to get a boat from and to the
Cinque Terre. The best and most convenient way to reach the Cinque Terre and to
move from one village of the Cinque Terre to the other is by train, railway line
Genova La Spezia.
Hiking fans have a wide chiose of trails Cinque Terre, paths Cinque Terre,
footpath Cinque Terre to enjoy: in addition to the famous Via dell’Amore and the
Blue Path, Sentiero Azzurro from Riomaggiore, up to Monterosso, through Manarola,
Corniglia, Vernazza, behind the Cinque Terre there are many wonderful paths like
the Via dei Santuari, the Alta Via del Golfo and hundreds of completely free of
charge other trails, traks in the Cinque Terre.
Those who like to walk the path from Riomaggiore to Monterosso, the famous
Sentiero Azzurro delle Cinque Terre, Blue Path of the Cinque Terre are required
to buy a special entry ticket, called "Cinque Terre Card". There are two
different kinds of Cinque Terre Cards.
The simple Cinque Terre Card allows the
access to all the path from Monterosso to Riomaggiore: path from Riomaggiore to
Monterosso, trak from Vernazza to Monterosso, trail from Vernazza to Corniglia,
footpath from Coniglia to Menarola, path from Menarola to Riomaggiore, Via
dell’Amore, Lovers’ Footpath. The Cinque Terre Card Treno allows you toh ave
access to the paths and to travel by train between Levanto and La Spezia.
